“Separation of Powers in Libya: A Constitutional Reading of the Dispute between the Legislative and Judicial Authorities”

  • The constitutional foundation of the principle of separation of powers.
  • The constitutional and legal organization of the judiciary in Libya.
  • A critical reading of the Supreme Court’s ruling in Constitutional Appeal No. (17) of 2014.
  • The limits of the House of Representatives’ authority in regulating the judiciary.
  • A legal analysis of the ongoing dispute.
  • The constitutional implications and consequences of the conflict.

🎯 Objectives of the Dialogue:

  • Deepening academic discussion on the principle of separation of powers and its constitutional dimensions.
  • Analyzing the impact of the current dispute between the legislative and judicial authorities on the stability of Libya’s constitutional system.
  • Clarifying constitutional guarantees for judicial independence and its role in safeguarding the rule of law.
  • Raising public legal awareness by providing an objective scholarly reading of the relationship between the two authorities, thereby reducing confusion and misconceptions in public opinion.
  • Promoting a culture of responsible constitutional dialogue by enabling researchers and academics to present balanced critical perspectives that contribute to building shared understanding and supporting institutional stability.
